What should I expect?

Hi, I just want to say thank you for any and all help with this one.

So back in August I had my first ultrasound after noticing an odd pain in my testicles. First ultrasound was done private, because GP and two hospital docs were absolutely sure nothing there. Which in a way, they were right. But non the less, I felt for £95 for my own peace of mind,a private scan is worth it. So private doc was amazing, he said nothing there aside from what he felt was a benign tumour in the epipipydymal region. He gave me a report to give my GP for a urology referral for patient management.

Urology booked for 06/10/21 - Go in, he does self examination and again, says nothing he can feel, but non the less will send me to have ultrasound.

Middle of October, have ultrasound, got results in December. Benign cyst. Will send me for another ultrasound in Jan, to do further diagnosis.

Yesterday, I get a call from Urology to come in 04/03/22 for appointment. I get worried sick easily, anyone know what to expect? Also I was wondering, how long do NHS usually take to diagnose testicular cancer? I had my first ultrasound and blood tests with NHS back in October.

Kind regards,

MxSphere

  • Hi MxSphere,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand the uncertainty and waiting for further tests is never easy. It sounds like they are keeping an eye on things, and that there is some reassurance to be taken from the previous scans and results so far.

It's good that they are being thorough, and also that there's now not much longer to wait until your next appointment. Try to use this appointment to discuss any concerns or questions you may have.

In the meantime try not to assume anything and instead take things one day at a time and focus on keeping yourself busy where possible.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
