What should I ask gynae oncologist?

Hi,

2 weeks ago, I visited my gp after a phase of bloating and absent periods - long story short, i was rushed in for an ultrasound and I have a “complex” cyst that is filling my abdomen from my pubis to the xiphisternum (last measured over 30cm) and is still growing.

I had a contrast ct done on Friday and have a meeting with the gynae oncologist tomorrow. Just the word oncologist is making me crumble - I’m not sure what the etiquette is!

Do I just listen? What do I ask? Any advice for a rookie?

Thanks for your time x

  • Hi Gattlinggums2013

I've noticed that you didn't have a reply before your appointment yesterday. I'm really sorry about that.

How did the appointment go? I really hope that the Dr was able to answer all the questions you had and that you have a plan in place for dealing with the cyst.

Do post and let us know how the appointment went if you're able to.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jenn,

    thanks for your reply.

To be honest I wasn’t expecting the last 24 hours to be what they have been! The oncologist suspects ovarian cancer and my ca19.9 is raised. So she put my case to be discussed at MDT and now I’m being sent to a tertiary centre under a “big gun” consultant who is trying to fit me on to next weeks theatre list! My rmi is 75 which I’m told is low so it’s just a waiting game now x
