Im waiting on breast biopsy results, i get them on monday, the waiting is just dreadful, sometimes your gut feeling tells you what you know but this time i just dont know! Anyone feel or felt the same?
A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.
I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Thank you for the reply, the waiting is hard! routine mammogram because i turned 50 so results were unclear, had it done again at the clinic scan and biopsies done, consultant said it looks like a cancer but looks like a radial scar also, so its the unknown at the moment, ive been strong but i crumbled at work yesterday its so hard not knowing, dont know what my gut feeling is telling me either, working tonight so will take my mind of it because its all you think about.
It is hard to stay strong all of the time and most of us buckle at some stage. A high proportion of people are recalled after a first mammogram, as there are no previous mammograms to compare the findings to, but the majority end up being clear. You will feel better on Monday regardless of the outcome, because at least you will know what you are dealing with.
It's just as well that you are working tonight, as keeping busy is the only way to try and keep your mind off it. As I said before, we are always here for you.
Hi just joined this site reading different comments such an agonising wait for results I'm awaiting my appointment to see if my treatment has worked you feel so lonely at this moment hope all works out for you hang on in there my love thoughts are with you
Hi KarenK 1971
I had an excisional biopsy around nipple and areola suspected small cancer, 3rd Sept and I have now received an appointment for a telephone call Friday 17th Sept.
It's the day after the MDT meeting
I hope a call means good news, unsure, and yes, the wait is so hard xxx
Thankyou for your support, as with every one else, i had a mass about 20 years ago and got the results same day, had a needle test to confirm it back then, and it was negative, i saw on the mammogram on the 1st of September an image, first the nurse said the consultant said it looks like a cancer, then after the scan and biopsies she said the consultant wasn't as concerned as the initial mammogram in the morning but has questioned maybe a radial scar, they have put a clip in so i dont know what in thinking just now, gut feeling i don't know, one or the other negative or something positive! But the concern is they have saw sonething, not a lump but something inbetween 2 tiny cysts which they found quite hard to get to when doing the biopsy, tell you something never saw bruising like it in my life lol
I been so worried, I found lump collarbone under are and arelo and tip of nipple had all tests and needle, didn't hear for 8 month , then rushed me back for a quick examination, had scan in room , my friend went with me. Told it had enlarged in 8mths, omg they already said nothing to worry about...now says lump near nipple loo very suspicious and I need urgent surgery..had that, now got letter from
General surgery....saying I have a telephone apt Friday 17th with breast specialist, unsure or outlook hope it's good news. Must be over the phone. Not hugs are with u and my support to chat more wen we get our results zxx
Not hearing for 8 months god thats long, do you need treatment after the operation? So youll find out on the 17th I hope its all good news, when i go on monday with my mum the nurse said it will be myself or the other senior nurse, a consultant or surgeon from the hospital is that what happens when you go to the clinic for the results?
It's time like these Karen when we all need a shoulder heat to chat if you need a shoulder hope I can reassure you same as I say I am a breast cancer survivor of 20 years and my diagnosis now is not connected so there's definitely a light at the end of that dark tunnel just hang on there x
Well one day to go, its just the unknown that scares you the most and hearing the big C word how do you deal with it, they have saw something and i hope at most its a radial scar that i can deal with, and on the other hand it may be something that's just to be left alone, its just the not knowing and now im just dreading it but hopefully its not as bad as i think, thank you for your support
We nearly all tend to think the worst at this stage. Fortunately, this seldom happens, but our minds tend to run away with us while we are waiting. 'It is not cancer until you are told that it is' and, if it is, you will deal with it because you have to. None of us want a cancer diagnosis, but this is one of the most treatable form of cancer these days.
Thumper has had 20 years since diagnosis and I have had 12, despite 2 bouts of breast cancer. She looks great in her picture and, I expect that, like me she is leading a busy and fulfilled life.
Here'shoping that it is just scar tissue. Just remember that we are always here for you.
Hoping and praying for good news.
Sorry, I missed this post. When you go for your results you will usually be seen by the consultant, who will have a breast care nuse with him/her. The consultant will give you the results and if it is cancer, will discuss any treatment. You will usually the have time to chat with the nurse, who will give you a folder with information on cancer, treatments, pathology, etc.
If you have any questions, write them down before you go, as you are likely to forget something important in the heat of the moment. Most questions won't come to you until you know your results.
I hope that all goes well.
Hi I was sore and very bruised, but its started to get itchy lol the stitches are around my nipple and lost half areola, the stitches stick out...not dissolved yet xx
When I left the hospital they gave me 2 month face to face appointment. Then I recieved an act for a telephone call on 17th...not face to face x so hopefully it's good news, they also did a biopsy on another lump under my arm. Lymp node xx
Hope all goes well for you xxx its a very anxious time for all of us xx
Hello.Ive just joined.
I have had tree needle biopsies, and one core biopsy. All on the one day.. I now just waiting for the results, though consultant indicated it didnt look good...
The waiting is toturous. I get my results this Tuesday..
A very warm welcome to our forum.
It is always a worry when you are told this on the first visit. This has happened to me on three occasions in the past 12 years. Fortunately, on one occasion the consultant was mistaken and the lump was benign. However, on the other 2 he was correct.
I am glad to see that you don't have much longer to wait as the wait really is agony. Please let us know how you get on on Tuesday and, remember that we are always here for you.
