Waiting on biopsy results

I have had a mark on my shin for 3 years and seen doctors in the past as I was concerned.

One doctor mentioned bowens disease and gave me some cream which did not work.

A few months later another mark appeared on my left shin and again I was told there was nothing to worry about.

Over the last year the mark on my right shin turned into an open sore which kept healing and opening back up again.

Went to the doctors to be told it was irritated and needed cream.

After sending pictures of both shins to another doctor during a telephone appointment I was told I needed to see a dermatologist.

I went privately as did not want to wait and was told I needed biopsies on both shins as he feels the right one is a concern.

I am scared that the result will come back as a skin cancer as the bowens has been there 3 years.

Anyone gone through a similar experience?

  • Hello Nikki21,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your biopsy results. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
