Waiting for biopsy

Hi,

I had slight abnormal cells after a smear test, i went for a colposcopy where i was told the cells had changed and had a biopsy taken. i didnt think to ask questions so i called the department and was told i went for slight abnormalities but they had chaged to high grade this was all within a couple of months now im really worried as this is similar to what happened with my mum.

I was told they would try and rush results due to a holiday coming up but how have people delbt with this in the meantime?

Thank you :)

  • Hi Lea87

I know that so many of our members here will nod their heads knowingly when I say that waiting for results can be a really difficult time! The "not knowing" means that it's easy for our minds to run riot about possible outcomes. Which in turn can make you anxious and worry more. It's a bit of a vicious cycle.

I really hope that the hospital have been able to speed your results along before the bank holiday weekend but if not then try to plan the next few days with things to keep you busy. Plan in some activities that you enjoy, meet up with friends, tackle those jobs that you've been putting off for too long. Keeping active can certainly help.

Pop back and let us know when you get your results.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi,

so after only waiting 7 working days for my results they had found high grade abnormalities, so they have already booked me in for treatment should I be worried that’s it’s actually been this quick.. the colposcopy department rang me to give my results.

again what happens after the treatment? What sort of thing should I expect whilst having the treatment?
