Two weeks ago my dad had a CT scan while in hospital for liver and kidney problems (which are now fully resolved), during which they found a mass in his right lung which is eroding into his vertebrae. Based on this CT we were told by a lung cancer specialist at the hospital that he has lung cancer. He told us that Dad would need a PET scan and a CT guided lung biopsy, and that this would be done within a couple of weeks.
It’s been two weeks now and they’ve decided not to do a PET scan until the biopsy results indicate we need one and we don’t even have an appointment for the biopsy yet. We’ve called all the numbers we can but all anyone is saying is that it will be ‘soon’.
I was just wondering what kind of wait times other people had to go through between being told they have cancer and having a biopsy to be able to find out it’s type and stage, is this normal?
I’m so scared for my Da and feel like they’re just wasting time and not taking it seriously enough, how can they tell someone they have lung cancer and then just send us home and leave us in limbo with a bunch of ‘soons’ like that’s okay?
I feel like I’m going crazy waiting.
