Votrient and high blood pressure

I have secondary kidney cancer. My right kidney was removed ten years ago and in the spring of 2014 I was diagnosed with six new tumours. First I was given sunitinib (Sutent) but it didn't agree with me so I ended up in A&E. After that I started Votrient in March 2015 and am still on it, but lately my blood pressure has shot up way above the acceptable limit and the doctor is sure it is the fault of the medication. As soon as I come off it for a few days my blood pressure is back to normal. It is a balancing act whig is quite tricky at the moment.

That does sound like a very tricky situation indeed. Has your doctor mentioned if it is possible to move you on to another cancer drug? Hopefully you and your team can find a solution to this problem but if you would like to talk things with someone do give our cancer nurses a call. Their lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and you can contact them on 0808 800 4040.

    Kind regards,
