Uterine lining 8mm - Womb Biopsy

Good morning,

I have had very heavy periods, random bleeding and strong pelvic pain that sometimes stretches to my back and to the tops of my legs since the birth of my daughter in Feb 2018. I have also been feeling lightheaded and unable to concentrate so I have given up driving for a while. I went to the doctors in December and they arranged a scan which I had just over 2 weeks ago. The sonographer was concerened that my womb lining was thick mid cycle. That evening my doctor called me  to say they would arrnge a biopsy, the next morning the hospital called to book me in and the following day I had a 2ww suspected uterine cancer letter so it was all dealt with very quickly and efficently.

At my appointment this week the doctor chekced my notes andsaid my womb lining wasn't actually thick it was 8mm; quite normal but he did the biopsy anyway but could not do a hyteroscopy due to bleeding and suggested the coil.

I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of 8mm being normal? I feel like I have wasted their time but I am still worried as the pain and feeling faint is still happening.

Thank you and apologies for the long post x

  • Hi Belgiumbun85,

It's good to hear that your womb lining is a normal width and that you are continuing to discuss with the doctor about next steps. This definitely isn't a waste of time. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers on an online forum, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

    I hope this is helpful,
