Urgent referral to breast clinic

Hi all

I went to the GP today with pain and tenderness in one of my breasts.
It's been going on a few months now, gets really bad close to my period when my breasts generally swell and are tender anyway however the last two months it's stayed even after the hormonalness has gone away.

It is tender even if my arm brushes against it, hurts a lot to touch and I wake in the night and I move my arm it's almost like a burning sensation.

Anyway the GP examined me, and said she was doing an urgent referral to the breast clinic but told me not to worry.
Obviously I am worrying a little bit and was just wondering if this is standard? And what happens at the breast clinic.
Thank you xx

  • Hi,

I don't have any experience with this but I have also just had an urgent referral to the breast clinic and worried sick. I have a left tender one (even wearing bra's) I have a lump just above my nipple. I have also been given an urgent referral to dermatologist as I have a none healing sore ( I'm dropping to bits)

I only waited 3 days for my appointment ( next Tuesday) I hope things move quickly for you and it's nothing to worry about.

    Big hugs

    Sara

  • Hi there, just read the 2 new posts from today...I too had an appointment today with my GP for a lump under my right armpit..I am absolutely petrified as my GP has made an urgent referral to the breast clinic..

I also have a family history,as my mum passed away from it..My GP said it could be a cyst but my breast also feels lumpy...which I thought was my normal..

    God bless you all x
