I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some health problems that have led to this this referral being necessary. It's understandable that you're feeling stressed about it. 

Well done for being proactive in trying to find out if any of the other local hospitals would be quicker. Hopefully now that you're on a cancellation list you may be able to get an appointment sooner. 

You don't mention if it was your GP or a consultant that referred you for the endoscopy. It may be worth just letting them know that you're struggling to get an appointment sooner than  4 weeks. If they feel that the wait is too long they may be able to lend some weight to getting you seen sooner. 

I hope that things are resolved quickly for you.
