Together we will beat cancer

Urinated blood on Tuesday. It was bright red drops of blood. No pain. No other symptoms except that for last year and a half ive had trouble emptying my bladder in one go.

Im a 42 year old female. Otherwise healthy.

i went to GP and he didn’t want to a dip check there and then and didn’t examine me. he asked for urine samples in the morning and blood tests are tuesday at the gp. he also mentioned im being referred to outpatients.

My question is, isn’t it overkill to refer me BEFORE blood and urine test results?

Hi MissAnnie,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear about the problems you've been having recently and hope that your appointment went well today.

I'm not sure why your GP has referred you to outpatients before your test results came back. I can only presume that based on the symptoms you presented with that they felt it was appropriate for you to be seen by a specialist.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your appointment.

Best wishes,

Hi, I’m Rich.

I’m a Nurse who doesn’t have specific experience with bladder condition but can confirm Moderator Jenn’s suspicions.

It is quite normal for people who fit specific criteria to be referred for a specialist opinion with or without other tests being done.
