Two week wait for referral

Hello. I've got a mole that I've been referred to dermatology for. I've never been diagnosed but I'm pretty sure I have generalised anxiety and health anxiety. I'm struggling at the moment and have two small children aged 4yrs and 12m

what do people do to help cope with anxiety? I have not been diagnosed with cancer and already think the worst and just want to cry. My husband is here for support but I don't want to tell my parents about my referral, don't want to worry them!

  • Hi Iwishyouwell and welcome to the community.

I'm sorry to hear you've been referred to dermatology regarding one of your moles and for the anxiety this is causing.

I know this must be scary but I hope it helps to know that a lot of our members have gone through this as well so you are not alone and hopefully you will receive some support and advice from them soon.

In the meantime, I wanted to let you know about a charity called Anxiety UK. They have a lot of resources that may be able to help you at this time, as well as a helpline and text support number you can contact. There are a lot of useful tips and advice for managing anxiety the NHS Every Mind Matters website as well but if you feel like it's becoming a bit too much to handle, then don't hesitate to get in touch with your GP.

I hope this helps and all goes well with your dermatology appointment when the time comes.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
