Hi , hazel was told by another member to talk to you , here goes , have had swollen tonsil and neck lump severe pain in throat one sided for about 9 weeks dr said virus then oral thrush but I insisted on ent appointment , I went yesterday and she said tonsil looks suspicious , had ultrasound on neck lump he said did it looked fine but she sent me back in for biopsy on it , just had phonecall and having tonsils out this Monday , I don’t know what to think was on my own so went blank as soon as she said suspicious , just need some advice and everyone seems to rely on you for that haha any thing would be helpful , thank you in advance xxx
Hi Mariag going from my personal experience I had no pain whatsoever no sore throat no difficulty swallowing only had Larry as I called him the lymph node. All I can say is please please keep off dr google try not to stress. Take a pen n paper with you when u go for op ans questions. You will probably get referred to a m d t meeting when tonsils have been biopsy then take someone with you as brain will be working overtime.
How old are u if u don’t mind me asking ?
tonsil cancer is rare try and remember that especially in females less than 3% i was always special lol. If the worst happens remember I’ve got through it and I am a wimp !

Hi thank you so much for reply , I’m nearly 54 but am a smoker , I’m trying not to google , I’m not scared of the treatment just scared I’m gonna die , I know that sounds dramatic , I have read your story and it’s very comforting , hope you continue to stay well , I’m hopefully gonna kick this cancers butt once again thank you
Hi perfectly natural feeling I dreamt of my funeral several times before treatment started always woke up justcas flames were licking coffin that was scary. I used to smoke 17 years ago and when I got initial diagnosis I immediately thought cigarettes but it wasn’t it was virus driven. When they sent me fir chest x rays on first day I thought bug that’s going to show lung cancer but it didn’t. If you need any advise best u can give u us stop smoking save the money it soon mounts up. If this us just a scare take it as a warning to stop. Lectures over !!

Hi please keep in touch. The tonsillectomy’s will be painful make sure they give you at least codine or co codomol. Positive mental attitude I’d ehat got me through it and like u say I’ve too much left in life thst I wanted and still want to do.
Yep same here got too much life left to live , not scared of the op just the bloody results , but what will be will be not much I can do about it , I will keep in touch and again thank you so much for your support
Thank you your so kind it’s people like you that are getting me through the day , one question if they looked down my throat with endoscopy would they have picked up any other problems ? Or would they just look at dodgy tonsil, thanks again
