I am not sure is the only answer I can give.  I suppose we cope because we have no choice but also because I think, deep down,  we do believe we will survive.  You will, I am sure, have good days and bad but I think the best thing to do is just carry on with your life as best you can.  Treasure those around you because they need your help to get through this as much as you need theirs.
