Time to engage with palliative team

My Dad was told today by his Palliative Consultant that it's time to engage with the palliative team and think about where he wants to die. However his oxygen levels are good, his lung sounds clear (he has lung cancer) and he's still getting up and dressed every day - we're finding it hard to tally everything. Can anybody share timescales, experiences once I got to this point please?

  • Hi there

Sorry to hear about your poor dad .

My dad died in Sept after being diagnosed 2 months before , he was treated poorly by the NHS , he had Osephageul cancer stage 4 , he had chemo way too late , it made him 10 times worse he died a week after his first chemo . The  best thing the palliative team did was to put him in a hospice, the hospice was superb, so I suggest if your dad starts to really suffer , don't hesitate to put him in your local hospice , these places make our NHS hospitals look like third world hospitals . Your dad will get the care he deserves in a hospice .

    Good luck too you
