Together we will beat cancer

Throat cancer.

8 Mar 2018 16:31

Hi my dad got diagnosed yesterday with mouth and throat cancer. The doctors have said they can’t operate on him or give him chemotherapy because he won’t live through it. They are hoping to give him radiotherapy to see if that will work. I’m just wondering what to expect from him having it. Like what can I do to make it easier for him. How he’s going to react to it. That kind of thing. Thank you.

Hello Beef,

A big welcome to Cancer Chat. I am so sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis and the fact that he cannot have surgery or chemotherapy treatment. It must be really difficult for you and your family but I am sure your dad appreciates your support at the moment.

We have some information on throat cancer on our website which you can access here. You can also find out more about radiotherapy on this page.

Feel free also to ring our nurses on this free number if you live in the UK 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Sending positive vibes your way and keeping everything crossed for your dad. Do keep us updated on what treatment he is offered and on how it all goes for him.
