Three in four don’t know obesity causes cancer

According to a recent report published by Cancer Research UK a large number of the UK population is unaware that being overweight/obese can result in cancer.

The graph below illustrates how serious this situation really is and you can read more about it on our blog here.

Knowledge is key, people need to understand the link between cancer and obesity, so they can make informed decisions about their choices and lifestyles. But knowing about the risks isn’t always enough, more needs to be done to get the message across and turn information into action.

And here is where we ask you, what measures do you think could be taken to effectively increase public awareness and make change happen?

  • Type 2 diabetes has been a known risk for a long time, but since 2005 when the idea was first proposed and up to very recently last month in october, research is finding that Alzheimers is now considered a stage of diabetes.

The public needs to be better educated on basic things like this. Diet (e.g. a can of coca cola contains more sugar than the recommended daily intake), food with carcenogenic ingredients, household detergents, talcum powder etc are all being used obliviously.

If companies put rat poison in their food there would be many legal cases and fines, perhaps criminal action etc, but using ingredients that are known carcenogens results to nothing.
