Thin melanoma

hi all. I had a mole removed and was told it was thin melanoma, I am currently waiting on an appointment to have wide local excision. My doctor told me my life insurance would pay out now and as I was shocked I never questioned her. Does anybody have any information about this? I'm too embarrassed to call my insurance company incase I picked the doctor up wrong .

  • Hello CazTy,

Welcome to our forum and best of luck for your appointment. We hope that it all goes well with the wide local excision.

Insurance companies are quite used to answering questions about what their policies do and don’t cover so why not give them a ring and explain what you have been diagnosed with. They will have information on what types of cancers are covered under their various policies. They will probably need something from the doctor in writing anyway so it’s a good idea to find out what you can or can’t make a claim for. Don’t worry they are very used to these sorts of questions so no need to feel embarrassed.

I hope you find the answers you are looking for from them soon and that you also get to hear from our members' own insurance experiences.

    Best wishes,
