  • Hi – I was reading through posts and saw that you are a couple of years younger than me and, like me, have had to have FSH tested. Do you mind me asking what your FSH was? My womb thickness was 11mm, but because my FSH was only 33 GP has decided not to refer me to gynae considering me to be peri- not postmenopausal. (I had a bleed that could have been a period 8 months ago, then one episode of light bleeding a month ago.) My CA125 has been checked and was found to be low.

It seems as if your GP has been more thorough than mine doing a retest on the FSH.

I would have liked to have been referred to gynae for reassurance with a biopsy. But I don't meet referral criteria in our area given I've been classed as perimenopausal.

Hope all goes well with your hysteroscopy.

  • Hi my doctor didn't say what my fsh was just that I had to get it done again in 6 weeks,I would go back maybe to a different doctor tell them you are worried and would like a referral.

Do you have stomach pains and bloating?

  • I do have bloating though it seems to be worse with certain foods. May also be hormonal.

Have always had a bit of a tendency to bloat hormonally. No stomach pains thankfully.

Hope your second FSH is helpful. I think technically my GP should have done two before deciding not to refer me to gynae. Did acknowledge result was "inconclusive".

I asked GP at what point I should go back/what would be concerning? All I got told was come back if bleeding becomes unmanageable. But my concern was that I hadn't had a bleed for 7 months, then something that didn't seem like a period at all.

I will be 60 in a couple of years. So guess I'm finding everything a bit confusing given my age.

There has to come a point at which I am considered postmenopausal. Just not yet it seems.

  • Hi ladies, i have had simular issues for the last 18 months, i m 57 now, i was having very heavy bleeds and was taking tamoxofen for breast cancer, i reported the bleed to gp who fast tracked me for an internal examination and scan, that came back as thickened womb and was sent for a hysterscopy. Results showed normal womb but lining 7mm,

6 months later, heavy bleeding again, so same procedure, this time i opted for GA for hysterscopy, been there once and wasnt doint it again ha ha, this tim the found my womb was 24mm and i had three polyps removed, biobsey showed i have endometrial hyperplasia without atypia, which means isnt cancerous yet but left untreated could be.

They told me that its treatable and can be reversed by taking hormones, my problem is i cant have the hormone treatment due to having breastcancer 4 years ago.

They have stopped me taking tamoxefin as they beleive this is whats causing my womb to grow, there hoping it might make a difference, i am due another hysterscopy and biobsey tomorrow to see where we are,

    Good luck ladies

    Debbie

  • Hi Debbie,

    Thanks for sharing your story.

Sounds like you've been through the mill having had treatment for breast cancer.

Hope all goes smoothly with your hysteroscopy and biopsy tomorrow and that stopping the tamoxifen leads to the hoped-for improvement in the womb lining thickness.

    Good luck!

  • Biobsey results can take 2 to 3 weeks, my last ones were 3 weeks to the day. Thanks i wish you all well on your journeys, I think ill come back as a male next time ha ha, woman seem to have way more problems.

  • I had hysterscopy in Feb, I’m a baby so had ga, never felt a thing, 10 days later found had endometrial cancer, had full hysterectomy in March which was so much easier then thought would be, then 4 brachytherapy in June,

  • One bleed 5 years after menopause. It has been total blur since Feb, extreme anxiety and fear, if I could start again I would tell me to stay of google
