Terrified I may have breast cancer

Hi.

I am 31 years old and have an 8 week old baby. I also have a four year old. Whilst feeding my baby last week I noticed that the top of my left breast felt very hard even though my baby had been feeding from it. There is no soreness so I doubt it's mastitis or a milk blockage. I went to my gp and he agreed that it does feel firmer than the other breast and has referred me to the 2 week clinic for an ultrasound. He didn't want to speculate as to what it could be. I haven't heard anything yet and am beside myself with worry. Every time I look at my 4 year old I cry imagining him without a mummy.

since I had my baby my hips, lower back, knees and pelvis have been intermittently sore which I assumed was due to the strains of pregnancy and extra weight but now I'm terrified that it's cancer that has spread to my bones.

I debated whether to post in case it's nothing but I'm beside myself and would appreciate any reassurance.

Thank you xx

  • Hi Lozza123407,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of your worries - I know this kind of uncertainty and waiting for appointments is never easy. I know it's easier said than done but try not to assume anything - the referral is good as it means you'll get some answers before too long. The only thing to really do is wait for the appointment and any results to follow - try to keep yourself busy and distracted while you do this, to help keep your mind off things.

As you mention it was a two week referral, hopefully you'll get your appointment soon.

There will be many others here who have been through something similar, so hopefully you'll also receive further replies here soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
