I would like to take the time off work to look after my husband and want to know if I can take time off with a sickness certificate so I can still get paid from work.
Some companies allow paid compassionate leave for a time period, otherwise you can get a sick note but it will be dependant on how amenable your GP is. My sister-in-law took 3 weeks sick to care for my younger brother who had had a massive heart attack - our family GP was fine about giving her a sick note for 'stress'.
