Hi Jules, enjoyed my get together with my friendship group lovely Xmas dinner at my local pub on Tuesday ,on the Saturday went to the community centre for another Xmas dinner that was very nice has well we had a raffle some lovely prizes unfortunately none of us won there was a singer on as well he was a hour late because of the weather it snowed quite heavy in the north it was a shame really as some of the older ladies went home before he got to the community centre ,me and one of my friends walked it home it was quite treacherous but we managed to get home with out falling over and we had a couple of glasses of wine as well lol .glad you had a nice time with your daughter and I'm sure you will have a nice catch up in the new year I have been to the garden centre today Sunday with my daughter just bought a plant for my son  and squirrel food the pigeons are eating it as well lol at least there all getting fed now. I've got three more parties next week including my dementia group party on Wednesday my exercise after noon tea is on Thursday then that's it then ,I have to keep looking on my calendar so I don't forget where I'm going and on the right day the weather has been bad here really cold and some snow haven't had George out for a few days has I don't want to slip on the ice ,I'm hoping it will clear up this week so I can take him out again . have a lovely week stay safe in this Icy weather regards Syl x

Hi Syl,

Glad you are enjoying your social get-togethers as we build up to the festive season.  Rather cold down here and no doubt where you are too.  Have managed to get out every day but the walks have been a little shorter than I would  normally attempt.  Three/four times a week at the gym so that at least give me half hour social time. I had a friend come round on Saturday afternoon, met another friend for walk and a coffee out on Sunday. A blip with the boiler at the weekend meant no hot water upstairs and whilst it appears back to normal now my plumber is coming in today (hopefully) to give it a good service and check things out.  This means I am stuck indoors so will be a day of housework and the washing machine is whirring lol.  I have bought a new doorbell so can have fun setting that up and choosing how it chimes (there are many choices to listen to).  Yesterday I met another friend and we went to the cinema (Senior screening for £3.50 which comes with a cuppa/biscuit) and saw Ticket to Paradise with George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Nice easy and funny watch.  No plans as yet for the weekend but then I take it day to day and will depend on the weather how far I venture. There is a local Artisan Christmas Market this weekend so may go there and then on Monday I have a friend coming over for the day for our pre-Christmas catch up and present swap so looking forward to that. Will get my hair cut/highlighted on 22nd ready for Christmas away.  Do hope you have a good week and enjoy whatever you manage to fit in.  Stay safe and warm. Best regards, Jules x

Hi Syl

Probably our last catch up before the festivities.  I go to my son's Xmas Eve for a couple of days then life will return to some sort of normal after the New Year as the gym is closing for re-decoration in between.  Daughter and family have just returned from their 4day trip to Lapland and the photo look stunning and am sure they had the best time making memories with my grandchildren.    I have had a couple of coffee catch ups with friends this week and then yesterday took myself into London for the day.  Main reason was to attend the Charlie Mackesy exhibition at Sothebys before his work goes to auction (could not afford to place a bid but bought his latest book which goes with the animation film to be shown on BBC on Christmas Eve).  I treated myself to coffee and cake in their 'Story Cafe' where he had painted temprorary murals direct onto the walls for all to enjoy.  Afterwards I walked to St Jame's Park and then back via Trafalgar Square where there was a Christmas Market before I then cut through theatre land and back up to Oxford Street for afternoon cuppa before getting back on the underground home.  A really lovely day out. Today I have been pretty lazy though spent a couple of hours at the hairdressers this morning for cut/highlights/blow dry.  Tomorrow I have last trip to a gym session and then will go to the crem to lay flowers and afterwards meet up with a friend for walk and talk.  After the very cold weather it is now damp, dull and so mild I do not need any heating on!! How rediculous for the time of year.  Forecast is much the same for Christmas which is a real shame as if it is rainy it will limit our family walks on Christmas and Boxing day mornings.  Oh well, somethings  you cannot control.   Hope you get through the festivities ok and wish you and the family all the very best for Christmas and 2023.  Look after yourself.  Best regards.  Jules x

Hi Syl,

Well another Christmas has passed and a New Year to look forward to.  Hope you enjoyed the time spent with family.  I too went to the Crem but after I got back from my son's.  Son and family all had colds for Christmas and my daughter in law went to bed at 8/30 on Christmas Day and is still spending much of her time there.  On Boxing Day my son and I took the kiddies to see their other grandparents and 17wk old cousin and it was very nice indeed.  I got home late afternoon and normal routine is now back until after the weekend when I go up to see my daughter and family.  They have booked a meal out for the evening and then my daughter returns to work so I stay overnight as the chiildren do not return to school until the following day. (childminding duties on what is the 8th anniversary of hubby's death. They will have to bring me  home because of the rail strike!!  Just hoping I do not go down with any of the bugs that are definitely doing the rounds.

Sending best wishes and good health for 2023.  Take care. Jules x

Hi Syl,

Happy New Year and hope it is a peaceful and healthy 2023 for you and all the family.

Hope the rest of George's stay went well and it probably feels a bit quiet now he has returned home.  I have never looked after a dog though do enjoy it when my son and daughter visit with their family pets.  My daughter is currently on the look out for someone to look after their dog when they go away this Summer but I definitely would  not want that responsibility.

I was on my own for New Year and this has never bothered me; just another day really. Usually have a few messenger chats with friends and see it in by watching the TV.  Family WhatsApp each other too.  I went to the Crem on New Year's Day as was going to be at my daughter's childminding on the anniversary of hubby's passing.  Very peaceful and spent some time also feeding the ducks on the ornamental pond in the grounds.  Afterwards went for a long walk and lunch out nearby.  My daughter and family picked me up on the 2nd (due to rail strike) as they made their way home from New Year in Devon.  My daughter then drove me home on the evening of the 3rd so a quick but nice catch up once they were in from work.  Now some sort of normality can settle back in and I returned to the gym yesterday and my early morning (pre sunrise) have resumed.  Weather is dull but at least mild so heating not required so today the washing is already done and all the Christmas decorations packed away for another year.  No other plans until next Monday when I am meeting a friend for lunch and New Year catch up.  Am also in the process of trying to arrange a few days away May/June time to enjoy some wildlife photography.  For now I am off out for my next stroll whilst it is dry!  Sending  best wishes for a happy and healthy 2023 and the week ahead.  Take care of yourself.  Jules xx

Hi Syl

Not sure where the time is going at the moment but the days roll on.  I am sure it must have been strange when George returned home and a nuisance that the weather has been against you taking him for a walk.  Last weekend lots of heavy rain but Sunday was dry so met a friend and we walked, talked and stopped for a cuppa which was nice.  Monday the weather turned cold but dry so I went to the London Wetland Centre in Barnes for around 5hrs.  Loved watched the Otters being fed and then strolled around and popped into the  numerous hides to observe the visiting/resident birds.  Also a lovely soup for my lunch in the cafe there.  Well worth the 90min journey by train/bus to get there.  It has been very cold since but have managed the gym and several walks. Today I am meeting two old workmates for lunch, the first time we have got together since I left in 2020! Tomorrow I go over to my son's in the afternoon for a spot of childminding so he and my daughter in law can go out for a meal with friends.  I will stay over and have quality time with them on Saturday. No other plans in place for next week yet but the gym is my main routine 3 times a week so always somewhere to go Hope you are having a good week.  I am going outside to retrieve the night camera and see what my visiting foxes have been up to. -3 at the moment so more suet pellets and nut kibble to go out for the birds too.  Take care and stay safe when out an about.  Jules xx

Hi Jules, glad you're still going out with friends and you enjoyed going to the London wet land centre I have never heard of those places ,it sounds as if you have a lot of lovely places to visit in and around London ,I have been to a funeral this afternoon Friday on of my neighbours died in December his family have only just had the service ,he was only 57 died of cancer he used to work with my hubby he had a lovely send off , there was about 30 bikers following the Hearst and is cofin was carried on the back of a motor bike lovely service then we went to a local pub for his wake he never married or had children so he was very close to his sister and his nephew so sad .glad you going to the gym again I'm not sure when my swimming aerobic s is starting again ,I keep asking but no on gives me a straight answer will just keep asking and see what happens . hope you enjoyed staying over at your son's and spending time with your grandchildren I'm sure you had fun with them, hope you catch the foxes on your camera, the weather here at the moment is very cold we have had snow this week and every morning this week all the cars have been frozen I'm sick of defrosting my car windows if I need to go out luckily I don't need it every day like them who have to go to work.im going marks Saturday with my daughter not sure what is happening Sunday  did my own dinner last Sunday so I'm hoping we might go out or my son will cook  . have a lovely week  regards Syl x

Hi Syl,

Hope the funeral went as well as these occasions can and does sound as though the send off was a good one!  Had a nice sleepover with son and family. On Saturday went and watched the grandchildren have their swimming lessons and they are both improving every week so should be more confident by the time the holiday comes around at Easter. We lunched at home and then my son took me to Currys so I could look at/get a new laptop.  At least now when my current one gives up I will have better one up and running.  Need to learn my way around Windows 11 so still using old laptop at the moment lol.  We also went to a couple of furniture showrooms to have a look and try some of the models I am thinking of getting.  He dropped me home afterwards but was a lovely catch up. It has been a very cold week and even though no frost today and 4degs the wind still felt cold when I went to the gym at 9am.   Meeting a friend for coffee tomorrow and then visiting my daughter/family on Saturday as long as the trains run.  Hard to make plans with all the strikes going on but they will come get me if needs me as staying with the children for a few hours on Sunday whilst daughter and son in law attend the darts tournament.  Hope  you had your Sunday dinner cooked for you.  I usually do my own roast meal every week unless away. I do treat myself to a mid-week takeaway so I get one night off from the kitchen lol.   Hope all goes well for you this week. Take care. Jules x

Hi Jules ,yes my neighbour had a good send off his sister put it on Facebook that he was a biker , over 20 bikers turned up and escorted his coffin to the church they even stopped the traffic so the funeral cars all stayed together I have never seen anything like it it was sad with him only being 57. glad you enjoyed your time with your son and you enjoyed watching your grandchildren having there swimming lesson it is nice when they learn to swim I remember mine going to the baths with the school  many years ago now . hope you have mastered your new laptop it's always hard learning how to work something new especially all the phones that are out now I wouldn't have a clue how to use them as they are so sophisticated oh to be young with all this technology out now lol .the weather hasn't been to bad this week bit of rain it's still cold though but have been taking George out on his walks , hope you enjoyed coffee with your friend and seeing  your daughter not heard anything about the trains this week I'm assuming they haven't been on strike this week. I did my own dinner last week as the kids were busy doing other things ,I'm going to a garden centre Saturday with my daughter it's quite a big centre so we will be there a good few hours I'm sure we will have a coffee and maybe have something to eat as well . not sure what I'm doing Sunday will see what happens have a lovely week regards Syl x
