Swollen lymph node on left collar bone

Hi, I'm posting because I'm worried about a swollen lymph node on my left collar bone. Of course, I've gone ahead and scared myself witless by doing the very thing I always tell other people not to do and Googled it. I've got rheumatoid arthritis and am on immune suppressants so have regular blood tests and since July my lymphocytes have been steadily rising, still in range, but only just. I know that that could also be a sign of cancer too. I have had chest pains and breathlessness for a few months, but my ECG was fine and I was given an asthma pump (which didn't help), I thought the pain could have just been due to my RA. Now I'm worried that I may have a tumour or something in my chest. I had a CT scan on Monday and now just waiting for the results, but it feels like torture to wait. I'm trying not to act or look worried around my family, but frankly I am really scared. I don't really know what I hope to acheive by posting this. It just helps to openly share my concerns without worrying my family unnecessarily. I sound like a hyperchondriac.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, CharUnder.

I'm sorry to hear that you found a swollen lymph node under your collar bone but I'm glad that you already got that CT scanned.

Oftentimes these lumps and bumps are nothing to worry about but I can appreciate why this is stressing you out. And yes, the waiting game, as many here can tell you, it's excruciating. Hopefully, you won't have to wait for long though and your results will show you have nothing to worry about.

Once you know more, come back and give us an update. We're keeping our fingers crossed for you.

    All the best,

  • So my CT scan results came in yesterday. I have a few small nodes on my neck and left axilla. I also have a 18 x 12 mm node superior to my coeliac axis and multiple mesenteric nodes over a centimetre in size. Fortunately all my organs seem normal and no tumours, although the scan didn't go into my pelvis. I've been referred to a haematologist. I'm feeling really nervous about it and don't know what to expect at the haematology appointment or what sort of things they will ask.
