Suspicious mole on breast

I found a mole on my breast around 4 years ago, and was referred to dermatology they said they didn't think it was anything to worry about but would check it once a year, but I never got any more appointments(I know I should have chased it up but they didn't seem concerned) but now it's bigger and red around the outside, I've asked my GP to refer me back to dermatology, is this anything to worry about?

  • Hi,

Any mole that changes should really be checked out, especially if it's been checked before. That doesn't mean to say it's definitely cancer but you need dermatology to take a look. Moles can be dysplastic (atypical) - they look dodgy but are benign. However, they have the ability to turn cancerous in the future so it's best they are removed anyway. 75% of patients referred to dermatology are found to have benign or dysplastic moles so hopefully yours will the same. Good luck and I hope you are seen quickly to ease your worries. Please let us know how you get on,

  • Hi Angie

I went to gp and was given an urgent appointment, so now am going to have mole removed.

    Thanks
