Surgery Monday to remove cancerous lump in my breast

I am going into hospital on Monday to have my cancerous lump removed from my breast , it is day surgery, how many days will I be out of action for.

  • If it’s a lumpectomy, it depends on whether you’re having a node biopsy done as well. The lumpectomy caused me virtually no problem, the  biopsy was more of a problem, you will be given exercises to do and these do help a lot although I didn't find then easy initially. I went back to work after two and a half weeks altho only half days to begin with.

  • Hi,

I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy. I was in and out the same say and went back to work full time 2 weeks later. Make sure you do the exercises otherwise you'll stiffen up and feel tight.

    Good luck xx

  • I had lumpectomy nd node removal as a day case. Everyone is different so here’s my experience. Op was much better that I had made it up to b in my head. Next morning I was up dressed nd out t shops nd pub for meal:-) was just on paracetamol ( was given stronger meds but didn’t need). I was tender but no actual pain and could move arm around freely. Like everyone says do them exercises they do help.

Good luck for Monday ( I was one of 5 in the same room all having the same op - we chatted and actually laughed and joked with each other. Made the time less stressful and pass quick). You will b fine - let us know how u get on . X
