Supporting my husband - oesophagus cancer

We received the devastating news at the beginning of August that my husband has T4-N1-M1 cancer of the oesophagus junction with the stomach.

He's been put on the ECF regime.  Tiredness being the main side effect so far.

We've been told that palliative chemo is all that's available

He's due a CT scan in a couple of weeks to see if anything has changed at all.  There's been  2 rounds of chemo so far with a pump fitted for the F medicine.

Just wanted to say hi to anyone going through this awful disease too.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Mandy although I'm very sorry about the news you and your husband have been given.

I really hope some of our members who are contending with this diagnosis will be along soon to offer their support and advice and that the CT scan will show the chemo is helping.

    Best wishes to you both,

  • Hello Mandy,

Just saying Hi to you . In a similar situation to you with my mum. She is just about to have her second round of palliative chemo for oesophageal cancer that has spread .She is a young 63 with no other health problems this diagnosis came as a complete shock. She has been in and out of hospital with temperatures and sickness. Her main issues are tiredness no energy at all too and the sickness. She has a driver for sickness meds. I really hope the CT scan shows some good results for your husband and you. Take each day as it comes xx

  • Hi pepperplant,

Sorry to hear that you're in the same boat,  it's the worst thing to be involved in.

Thanks for responding to my message,  it's good to talk as they say

I can't say I'm really looking forward to the scan,  I'm dreading them saying it's got worse.... Yeah I'm a pessimist when it comes to this c monster

My hubby just had his 3rd round of chemo today,  he's gone straight to sleep now....

Please do feel free to message me if you need to chat.
