Struggle eating after having a lung removed

Hi my 79 year old dad had a lung removed due to lung cancer. Since this he has list a lot of weight which we were told would happen. However, he still struggles to eat as constantly feeling sick and a lump in his throat. We are waiting to see a dietician but need some help in what foods are best to give him to build him up but stop the sickness. Thanks

  • A warm welcome to our forum, Dickinson25.

I'm sorry to hear that your dad is having trouble to eat after having had his lung removed due to lung cancer.

Hopefully, some of our members who are caring for loved ones in a similar situation will be along shortly to chat with you and offer advice but in the meantime, I thought you might be interested in having a read on this page from our website on eating and drinking difficulties that some people with cancer have.

Also, our cancer nurses will be ready to take your call after the bank holiday if you feel that asking them for suggestions might help. They are available on this number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday, between 9 a.m - 5 p.m.

Best wishes to you and your dad,
