Still non the wiser - more tests to find where cancer began

I wrote a post about a month ago about my mum getting told she has cancer in the lymph glands in the chest, in the lymph gland at the top of the abdomen and also within the lung, she then went for a biopsy to see if they could find where the cancer started but got the results today and  they are still non the wiser so she has to get a neck biopsy. She first ever went to see about this in July and it's nearly December surely with how long this is all taking there isn't going to be a lot they can do as surely it will spread more in this time? They are thinking it may have started in lung but can't be sure.

  • I'm so sorry to hear you and your mum are no closer to finding out where her cancer started Looloo.

This must be so frustrating but we'll have our fingers crossed the results of her neck biopsy will finally be able to give you and her medical team the answers you're seeking.

Your worries and concerns about how long it's taking are completely valid, so if you haven't done so already, do try to discuss this with your mum's medical team as they'll be in the best position to answer your questions about this and anything else that is playing on your mind at the moment.

In the meantime though, you're very welcome to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to support you and put your mind at ease.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will offer their thoughts and advice to you soon as well.

    Kind regards,
