Starting radiotherapy & Letrozole

Hello,

Feeling concerned about side effects of the hormonal drug Letrozole which I will be starting any feedback would be welcome..thanks

  • I will be starting hormone therapy soon.  Try not to worry about side effects until they happen.   Hopefully there are some people on here who have been okay in it.

  • Have a look on the thread The good and the bad. There are a lot of us breast cancer types as well as one or two others who join us periodically on there. [@Sandra123]‍ had radiotherapy and is taking letrozole.

  • Hi

Yes started on same meds 10 days after op. Got hot flushes through the night generalised aches nd pains. Been on them 8 mths now Nd flushing has stopped but do still get some aches... not enough of a problem to consider stopping. Had my dexa scan (to check for osteoporosis) they were fine with next scan in 2 yrs time.

Couple wks after starting I started RT ( 5 days per wk for 3 wks). Many people get fatigue.. I was very fortunate - I was fine nd had no problems with my skin.

You may want to hop onto the thread the good and the bad - there are a few of us BC ladies on there. Some been there done that’s nd some currently about to start RT and meds. All happy to answer questions support on both your good and bad days...or just to shoot the breeze about .... absolutely anything :-) feel free to join in the chat with everyone:-)

good luck and here’s to your experience being as good as it can be. Take care x

  • hi have had 5mm tumour removed in May,with no lymph node involvement. Started letrozole in April. I refused the 15 treatments of radiation. I thought it was excessive with too many side effects. 2weeks ago I decided not to take the letrozole as I felt so tired and ill with it. I told my breast cancer nurse.. She discussed this with my surgeon. The calculated odds for having both treatments and not having them were equal. Gobsmacked by this. My advice to everyone with these problems of deciding what to do is get your surgeon to tell you exactly what your chances are as not to have to have these toxic treatments.
