Start of Chemo

Been on quite a journey since January. Anyway first Chemo on Monday, now waiting for the side effects to kick in!!!??? Taken plenty anti nausea tabs etc...... I know everyones experiences are different but would like some positive rather than negatives, this terminal disease is negative enough xx

  • Hi there ... can’t help with good story as not had cemo ... but had total mastectomy... but just wanted to say, fingers crossed it won’t be as bad as imagined... and just say sending you positive vibes ... hope you get some good news ones soon ... Chrisie x

  • Hi Chrisie, thanks for your reply. I'm sat waiting for things to start!! Anyway I'm on treatment now xx

  • Hi good luck with your treatment I start chemo Tomorrow mine is for bowel and liver quite anxious

  • Can't blame you for being anxious!! Had breast cancer x2 yet didn't have chemo. Radiation and hormone tablets. This newest disease is called plueral mesothelioma, a cancer of the pluera caused by asbestos probably inhaled 40 plus years ago and waited until recently to develope.

You take care of yourself, we can't give in to whatever life throws at us, try and stay as strong as you can. I fall by the wayside a lot of times. Getting advice or just a bit of information from others is very helpful. Still not feeling too bad after Chemo Monday, good luck for tomorrow. xx

  • Hi there .. it’s funny you saying about asbestos... when I was at school some 50 years ago ... we used benson burners and underneath was a tile of asbestos.. we would put it in the flame to see if it would burn aaarrrhhhh .... that was before anyone knew about it... wonder how many kids there ended up with a cancer because of it ... I don’t think my brest cancer is from that ... but makes me think?

Any ways hope your treatment is kind to you ... keep in touch .. big hug Chrisie xx

  • Hi it’s a tough ride been on two year journey myself but with the love and support of nurses and family they will push and support you, even when you feel you have had enough you somehow get the strength to push on, sending you positive thoughts, I drank lots of water, which helped me after chemo & just try to walk as much as you can x
  • Hi Chrisie, makes you think with the asbestos...made me shudder when you reminded me of the Bunsen burner. My first homework at secondary school was Chemisrty, drawing and labelling a Bunsen Burner.!! Not feeling too good at the moment with Chemo, just started mouth ulcers, reflux and indegestion. Got plenty of stuff to help. Having a lazy one today xx

  • Struggling with Chemo at the moment, struggling to drink with reflux, feeling a bit sorry too for myself. x

  • Hi, Its been a journey just reading up about side effectsof Chemo.  I have read what your saying is a possible side effect, but I would phone the nurse just to ease your mind. My daughter has been amazing guiding me all the way and I'm going with the flow. Good luck with your treatment.
