Stand up to cancer – life-saving science

3 Nov 2017 14:35

Hi all,

You might’ve noticed our Stand Up To Cancer 2017 campaign doing the rounds recently, in your local Cancer Research UK charity shop or perhaps on the telly?

We’re really proud of how involved people have got, so I thought I’d share a bit of information with you about how the money raised helps.

Every penny given goes towards life-saving research, funding cutting-edge projects. For example, oesophageal cancer (cancer of the food pipe) takes the lives of over 7,000 people in the UK each year. Scientists are using the money raised by Stand Up To Cancer to kit-out their endoscopes with the latest technology, helping to capture cancer cells in a way we’ve never been able to previously.

The science behind Stand Up is hugely exciting; if you’d like to read more about it, there’s some great information on the site.

And for those of us who like to settle down on the sofa on a Friday night, there’s a special celebrity version of Gogglebox on C4 tonight, featuring some familiar faces!

Thanks all,

Helen
