Stage IV triple negative breast cancer

I had stage 3c tnbc in june 2015. I had chemo fec-t, wide excision lumpectomy with lymph node removal, followed by radiotherapy. In Dec 2017 the cancer recured in my mediasteinum and lymph nodes in my neck on the oposite side.

I underwent weekly chemotherapy which should have been 18 weeks but took 6 months and I was too poorly to finish. A CT scan showed I responded well.

I have just had my 3 monthly CT check and it is growing again.

I have chosen not to have further treatment, what do you think my survival time/life expectancy might be?

  • So sorry to hear this. No answers but couldn’t scroll past without sparing you a thought x

  • So sorry to hear your news. I can’t comment either as I have no experience.  I’ve just had a lumpectomy and am awaiting results of lymph node analysis. What has helped me cope with the whole experience has been trying to look into things I might do to reduce the likelihood of my cancer spreading and recurring. Diet and lifestyle seem to be things that might help, and a book by Jane Plant called Your Life in Your Hands, which focuses on the potential role of dairy produce  consumption in breast cancer was, I found, quite compelling. My consultant screwed her face up when I asked about diet during the meeting where I got the news that I had cancer, but I figure that it won’t do any harm, and could actually help. I wish you the very best whatever the future holds.

  • Thanks SquarePants. My partner has been given the MBC, primary in the breast and spread to spine, liver, ovaries, lung and abdomen. 1 round of radiation, chemo and immuno, not perfect results.....now they are saying it could be Triple Neg, more new tumours. Doctors said 6 months, but she is still here.... I am trying to get my head around the fact that we have no idea what will happen.

    Sending you good wishes
