Stage 4 Mesothelioma

Hello,

Has anyone got any experience of someone living with stage 4 mesothelioma? we were given six months for them to live and are entering that six month. He is now on morphine every four hours and 25mg of pain patches. Its difficult to know when he needs to be in a hospice and how severe the cancer is as other than agonising pain (pre patches) and shortness of breath, night sweats, there aren't many symptoms. We are having to provide care right now and it's putting a huge strain on us all.

  • Hi Jashope,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm very sorry to read about what you're going through with this and I can only imagine how difficult it must be with the uncertainty as well as the strain of the care needed. Unfortunately I'm not able to advise specifically on this other than to say it's always best to speak with this person's doctor or specialist to get any medical advice or information related to his current situation and what to expect, especially as each person is different. It's of course important that you're as informed as possible, and supported as best as possible too, so do speak to them.

Meanwhile do continue to use this forum as much as is helpful for any other support with what you're going through.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
