Someone like me,and Moving on course

Hi anyone thinking of trying the someone like me telephone call that Mcmillan nurses can arrange for you,and wondering if it would be of any use to you, after you've been through and finished all your treatments , I can tell you I've just had a call this week, and it's really helped me. The lady they matched me with was so nice, and talked to me about certain issues I was experiencing and that she had also experienced, and had got through herself. I found many tips  and suggestions on how to help me. We've arranged another call in a few weeks time in October. I'm also going to join the moving forward course,Mcmillan offer too,and am looking forward to this four week course. Just wanted to let people who have gone through breast cancer, know how much this call has helped me,so hopefully anyone who's heard if it,and was not sure as to if it would benefit them, its really helpful as Mcmillan match you with ladies that have gone through simular things like you or who are near your age, once they match you,you get a call from them before to say they think they have found someone that will be good for you to talk too, they tell you a bit about the lady, her name ,her age and a few more details, and they ask you are you happy with the match so if your not you can say,if you'd like to continue or not.  I'm my case I was happy with my match.im so glad I did it,and so grateful that this free service exists, that I said I'd like to volunteer to do this myself,so next year when they are recruiting, they said " they would think of me;. The training for this is done online,so would suit me just fine.

Title should be Someone like me, and Moving on course.

Just couldn't edit that ,so correcting it now lol.

  • Hello Jassosscared,

Thank you for sharing this wonderful tip which I am sure will be of great interest to many members of our community. I've edited your title removing the typo. It sounds like an amazing service and I am glad it was so beneficial for you. It's incredible too that it's all free!

You would be perfect actually as a volunteer. They will be so lucky to have you!
