So stressed

Hi everyone

really hoping someone can offer some advice, my mind is in overdrive. I have been to the hospital today under the 2 week pathway for a lump in my neck that has got larger over the last 3 months despite 2 courses of antibiotics. I was expecting to go for ultrasound and biopsy, however the ultrasound was done I was then advised that I was to be referred for urgent guided ultrasound. I’m so confused others in the same clinic went in and came out with plasters on the neck clearly having had their biopsy’s. has this happened to anyone else or anyone know why this may be  ? X Thank you

  • Hello Emr,

A warm welcome to our forum. I can imagine it must be really stressful for you to have been referred for an urgent guided ultrasound when you didn't expect it. I can completely understand why you felt confused by it and why you were puzzled that others had had their biopsies and you hadn't. Perhaps you could ask the hospital for more information as to why they decided to refer you for this additional ultrasound?

I hope you will meet others here who have had a similar experience before and that they will share their story with you. Unfortunately, all you can do at the moment is wait and I hope you will get to have this guided ultrasound very soon.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything will turn out to be fine,

  • Thank you for your reply,

unfortunately at the appointment my head was all over the place so didn’t ask questions I know know I should of asked. I have my scan and biopsy in two days, since the last appointments the lump on my neck appears to have got larger but also on the opposite side of my neck I have discovered a further lump that deinately hasn’t been there before, and I haven’t had any cold or anything that may cause anothe gland to swell so I’m hoping they will also scan this at same time. This waiting is just the worst, I’m trying my hardest to keep positive but can’t help but have wobbles now and again x
