Small pea-sized lump and inverted nipple... Terrified

Hi,

I went to the doctor the other day in regards to an inverted nipple. It has always been slightly inverted but have noticed in the past couple of weeks it has become more inverted.

Doctor referred me to the 2ww breast clinic and said there should be a 2-3 week wait. I wasn't too worried but have just  decided to double check my breast and have noticed that there's a small pea sized lump right under my nipple.

The doctor didn't say anything about this when she checked my breasts but now I am absolutely terrified

I'm obviously thinking the worst case sceenaio but am only 24! Could this possibly be something else?! Help x

  • Hello Lucy497,

A warm welcome to our forum!

Try not to worry too much - you've done the right thing in going to see the doctor about the inverted nipple and when you go to your breast clinic appointment, make sure you mention that you have since noticed this small pea sized lump right under your nipple just in case your doctor hasn't flagged it. It's always best to make them aware of it so don't forget to mention it.

I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. Stick to reading useful information as for example this booklet from Breast Cancer Care on what to expect from your breast clinic appointment.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

I attended my appointment and got my results back the same day... was brilliant!

Came back all clear and was just thickened tissue
