Should be ..........,

Hi

I have been for my 3 months check up, my mri scan was fine nothing was detected and I am feeling alright (I had cervical cancer 2b ) so I should be on a high and happy but I’m not, feel down and so cross and snappy, is this normal or should I see a doctor ?

    Hi Limesbabe,

This is great news! I think that anyone with a diagnosis of cancer, lives with the fear that it may spread at some stage. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer and, from the day I started, I was looking forward to finishing my Letrozole. When I did finish it earlier this year, instead of feeling elated, I felt more scared. It was as if my safety blanket had been taken away from me.

I haven't had chemo and I am not a medic, but I would have expected a reaction like this more, just after initial  diagnosis. Give yourself a few days for the good news to filter through. If these feelings persist, have a word with your doctor. There is a possibility that you might be depressed.

I hope that it settles down soon. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you, whenever you want to talk.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi,

    That's fantastic news!

The one thing I've learned on my own cancer journey is that there is no such thing as normal. Your reaction isn't unusual though, many of us feel a sense of anti-climax. Yes, you have got your life back but all the worry won't immediately disappear and you may always have a nagging doubt that it may come back. This seems absolutely normal to me. Give yourself time and if you feel worried about being worried have a chat with your GP.

    Best wishes
    Dave
