Secondary breast cancer, brain mets

I was diagnosed in March 2022 with Stage IIIb IDC, ER8, PR0, HER neg. I had lumpectomy and wide local excision in June (5/13 lymph nodes contained cancer cells) and started chemo in August. I have had 3 cycles of EC and one cycle of Docetaxel but not without problems and have ended up in hospital for one reason or another after each cycle. Last weekend I started getting headaches with blurred vision and vomiting and after tests at the hospital I have been told that the breast cancer has metastasised to the brain. Is there anyone on here in the same position that I can chat to. I am awaiting a telephone call following MDT meeting this morning to find out what the plan is moving forward but obviously I am petrified and have a lot of unanswered questions. I just cannot believe this has spread so quickly before I even completed treatment for primary breast cancer.

Any advice or support would be very welcome

  • Hello Kazzan,

I am so sorry to hear that you ended up in hospital after each cycle and that you were recently told that the breast cancer has metastasised to the brain. I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been diagnosed with breast cancer with brain mets and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

I hope that the MDT meeting will be useful and that you will soon find out what the plan is moving forward. I can imagine you have a lot of unanswered questions and I hope that you will talk to others here who have been in a similar place. Our nurse helpline can also be reached on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so don't hesitate to get in touch with them if there's anything you would like to talk about.

This is bound to be a difficult time for you and I wanted you to know that you are not alone, that we are all here for you whenever you need to talk to others who understand what you are currently going through.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
