Secondary brain cancer from lung cancer

We have discovered today that my father has lung cancer which has spread to his brain , we are told he has many lesions and brain swelling.  Up until today we were unaware he had cancer.  Approx 4 wks ago his general health took a dramatic turn he looked unwell, developed a lingering cough, started falling down, became more unstable on his feet , lost a lot of weight and slept a lot, he was also becoming more confused.

He is now in hospital and we are told that there is no cure - we are waiting to hear the proposed treatment plan and eta til the inevitable .

Can anyone provide an insight on what is to come as we are struggling to process the news and need to plan forward as my father currently lives in his own home by himself .
