Secondary Bone Cancer and steroids

My mum had head and neck cancer and received chemo and radiontherapy, The PET scan has highlighted bone cancer in 5 areas.  To improve mums appetite she has had steroids for 2 wks and now a reduced course for the next 2 wks.  It has made a massive difference and mums energy has increased as well as her appetite.

I am worried sick that mum will end up in lots of pain with the bone cancer, after all the side effects of all the chemo and radiotherapy which was very challenging.  Can anyone share any experience of secondary bone cancer and steroids?

Thank you

  • It's really good to hear your mum's energy and appetite has improved since having the steroids Polly although I'm sorry to hear bone cancer was found on the CT scan and for the worries this is causing.

Hopefully some of our members who are living with secondary bone cancer will share their experiences and advice with you soon but if you'd like to discuss this with one of our cancer nurses, they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Best wishes to you both,
