Scared and don’t know what to do *bowel cancer*

Hi I would like imformation please. I seen blood in my stool over a year ago I went to A&e as I was scared to death she did a internal examine and said I was fine. I fell pregnant a couple of months after everything was fine however I kept becoming impacted and had to physically remove it on 3 occasions causing a heavy bleed, I told my midwife and she wasn't concerned my bloods was fine. 38 weeks pregnant animic and baby had a growth decline on ultrasound, so I was induced. Fast foward to today 4half months later i still have reoccurring blood In stool and the doctors diagnosed piles, lower back pain, tail bone pain small stools (one occasion of fine long stool) rib pains and hips pain,  iv had 3 rounds of blood checks over the 4 months all perfect, pelvic and kidney ultrasound, internal vagina and analcheck, CA125 perfect, bowel inflammation bloods perfect. I'm currently very constipated with a feeling of fullness in my chest and throat feeling sick. I'm so worried it's cancer but ever check my doctor dose is fine I feel like I'm going mad my partner being seportive as possible but it's wearing thin as he's insisting I don't have cancer. What's my next step here I ho early don't feel right and do suffer from disabiling anxiety and fear dieing and cancer. Please help

  • Welcome to the forum Ness although I'm sorry for the reason you're joining us.

It's great that all the tests and checks you've had so far have been clear but if you're still having some symptoms it's understandable why you're feeling this way.

If you have more than one doctor at your GP surgery you could try getting a second opinion but some of what you're experiencing may be connected with your anxiety so it may be worth seeing what resources are available to help you work through this. Your GP should be able to point you in the right direction but I'm just going to include a link to a really helpful website called Anxiety UK for you to have a look at as well.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Ness2019.

Have you discussed with your GP whether your symptoms could be due to irritible bowel syndrome (IBS)?

This in an unpleasant condition that I suffer from. It's not dangerous as such, but it can be painful and miserable.  I'm not a doctor, but I see some similarities in your symptoms with my own (particularly the mis-shapen stools). The condition is made worse by anxiety, which leads to a vicious circle.  It has no cure, but I discovered the foods that trigger it in my case, and I'm much better now I avoid them.

There's more information about IBS here: What is IBS?

  • Thank you,I have seen all the doctors in my surgery lol there sick of seeing me Im getting myself in a terrible mess worrying. I have been told in the past I have ibs, Was just worrying about the blood and mucus as this isn't ibs related. I am currently awaiting my stool culture results and from my doctors. They are that convinced I'm ok they haven't offered me a colonoscopy (not that I want one) Thought that was first procedure when blood was reported. Ibs is a ruling out diagnostic xox
