Scared

I really don't know where to start, after a year of uncertainty as to pain in pelvis, excessive bleeding I used Bupa to try to get answers after nhs discharged me with a bulky ovary.

Bupa  tests confirmed a dermoid cyst overtaking my right ovary and I have now opted for hysterectomy,  removal of right ovary. I am due to have pre OP assessment tomorrow with operation on the 16th.

However I was filling in assessment forms and remembered I hadn't got mammagram results (nhs )back of nearly 3 weeks ago so I rang hospital . I asked if this meant all was clear and so she looked it up for me, told me it hadn't been checked and would look into it for me.

Call later , nurse said I need to go back for another mammagram and ultrasound.

This is booked for tomorrow also but in afternoon. Any advice would be very welcome

Thank you xx

  • Hi Jodiekid,

I noticed no-one had replied to you yet so I just wanted to check in and see how you got on with your pre-assessment and mammogram/ultrasound today. I hope everything went o.k but if there is anything playing on your mind do give our cancer nurses a call. They can be contacted on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Wishing you all the best for the 16th Jodiekid.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you Steph,  I had ultrasound and magnifying mammogram on left breast and am happy to say it was just enlarged cyst area . I will in fact keep an eye on this area though as my sister had this before she found lump that turned out to be cancerous.

I'm all set for hysterectomy on the 16th and cant wait for Howard the dermoid cyst to be evicted!

Thank you for listening to my fears and not judging me.

You are doing a fantastic job on this site!

    Kind regards
