Sarcoma diagnosed?

Is it unusual to be waiting over 2 long months for final diagnosis for cancer?[husband Bob] Hodgkin's disease and lymphoma ruled out, sarcoma confirmed, BUT there are 130 different kinds of sarcoma. Yesterday Bob and I and our daughter spent over 3 hours in doctor examine room waiting for her to come in to see us! Only to learn she did no research on his pathology report but promises to call the Dr at the clinic tomorrow {today] to see if he knows the type of sarcoma! Oh my word! What the heck?  We drove a long ways for this final report only to learn she didn't do her homework!  This all costs us money...gas for car, copays...I have taken family leave from my job to be sure we get into all doctors and tests asap! Our pockets are not never ending here. I'm scared of so much right now. We are in our 60's not old yet but exhausted to say the least.

  • I'm so sorry about the frustrating time you had with the doctor the other day Nanaof8. Are you any closer to finding out what type of sarcoma Bob has now? If you're concerned about the length of time it's taking to get this final diagnosis do be persistent in chasing it up and expressing your concerns.

I know you've chatted to some of our members already and hopefully some of them will pop by again soon to offer their support and advice.

Fingers crossed the wait will be over soon.

    Best wishes to you both,

  • Thank you Stephen.

I did voice my concern and frustrations with this Sarcoma doctor, she forgot to have their meeting with the other hospital oncologists last week...so they are getting together the 9tj of this month. This has been Bobs story with these doctors, literally forgetting!

I have no idea how to light a match under their butts and get going on treating my husband. He cannot speak up right now for himself without becoming over sadden. So I have been patient long enough with doctors and spoke my mind to two of his oncologist on Friday...we will see if they actually do anything. I didnt yell and I do not use foul language but I was stern.

Sorry for my attitude.  I'm very shaky and weepy.

  • Hi Nanaof8,

You don't need to apologise - it's completely understandable given the circumstances yuo and your husband have found yourselves in.

I'm glad you voiced your concerns with the doctor as well as with two of Bob's oncologist doctors. Hopefully they took everything you said to them onboard and that it helped speed things up.

    Kind regards,

  • News got a bit worse....sarcoma for sure, insurance won't pay and now we wait some more for doctor to find alternate treatments. My husband has been having some difficulty breathing but still gets around ok.  Has pressure on his chest...one of the many tumors around his lungs I am assuming why pressure.

His brother died very tragically last Saturday, dealing with the thought him gone and of how he died is awful.

Keeps on snowing And raining and sleeting here! We long for warm weather. Unusual to not see trees in bloom this time of year. We need the full sun to shine, open windows.

But..extended forecast says it gets warmer next week and thereafter! Even my cat is shedding and confirming warmer weather is on the way!

    Sun will shine again!I
