Salinomycin and MGO treatment - any experiences?

Hello everybody.
My name is Jerzy and I support cancer support for years now and I always hoped that I’ll never have the need to engage with the organisation other way than sending donations but the dark times came for my friend. My heart goes to all of you affected with cancer.
My friend has a stomach cancer and she decided to go for unconventional methods of fighting the disease. My question to you is anyone of you have any experience with salinomycin and MGO treament? I found many reports and articles which in majority are quite positive in theory but I can’t find any actual examples and cases of real people.
Please let me know if you can contribute to that topic.

  • Dear Jerzy,

Thanks for posting a question. I am sorry to learn that your friend has stomach cancer. I am one of the nurses and our moderator wondered if we had any information that might help.

As you probably know Salinomycin is an agricultural product. It has been studied as a potential treatment for cancer. But this has only really been in laboratory studies. These studies have shown that it does have some action against cancer cells, so I can understand your friend’s interest in it. But it is relatively easy to kill cancer cells in the laboratory. While unfortunately it is relatively common to find that potential new treatments do not work so well in humans because of toxicities.

I am not aware of any studies in humans. So I think that you will struggle to find any people who have taken Salinomycin as a cancer treatment. In fact I would urge your friend to be cautious about using Salinomycin. This is because there is some evidence to suggest that it might be very toxic to humans and cause muscle weakness and heart problems. Laboratories studies have also suggested that it could be toxic to human brain cells.

Therefore I am not sure if it will ever be feasible to treat cancer in humans with Salinomycin in its present state. But it may be possible for scientists to alter the drug in some way to remove the elements that are toxic to humans and then see if it can be used as a possible cancer treatment in the future. But this sort of thing can take years to develop and it might not work.

I am not sure what you are referring to when you mentioned MGO, perhaps you meant magnesium oxide. You probably know that magnesium is a mineral that is found in the human body. Magnesium oxide is a supplement but it is not absorbed particularly well in the body and I am not aware of it being used to treat cancer.

If your friend was thinking of taking any supplements or unproven treatments he should let his doctor know.

I am sorry if this reply is disappointing.

    Kind regards,

    Jean

  • Thank you very much for your response. Thats exactly what I found in reports found on internet.

There are actually some clinics that offer that treatment, in Poland for example managed by Japanese doctor and approved by german associations. There is no evidence of harmful impact although no evidence of proper improvement either. Thats why I wanted to widen perspective on this subject.

    Thank you anyway.

  • Dear Jean,

Perchaps you could advise me what is most recommended treatment for stomach cancer with metastasis in peritoneum ?

What is most common treatment in UK for that?

    Thank you

    Jerzy

  • Hello Jerzy

Thank you for your further enquiry.

As nurses, we do not recommend treatment. This needs to come from your friend’s specialist team who are familiar with all the medical details.

However, you can read more about how advanced stomach cancer is treated by clicking here.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
