My husband has a high PSA, MRI scan results show a shadow within bladder and now we need to undergo a biopsy. Anyone been through this and can help. Frequent uncontrolled urination. I would have assumed if serious, the biopsy outcome  would have been given or shown straight away without waiting possibly 2 3 weeks..?

  • Hi Janet,

It's best if you can to try not to assume anything in terms of the results. 2-3 weeks is fairly standard in terms of time to wait - if you haven't heard within this timeframe you can call up to check. The hospitals are of course working with a lot of patients and so these things naturally always take a bit of time.

In the meantime try to keep busy and distracted if you can, and hopefully it isn't too much longer to wait for you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Thankyou for your reply. We are keeping ourselves busy to not put too much thought into it. Its still with you at the back of your mind.  We will update once we have the results.

    Thankyou Janet & Campbell.

  • Hi All

Just an update, Campbell has been told to see his specialist at the hospital for the results. They would not define anything verbally.

    Hospital in 2 days.

    Should we be worried

  • Hi Jane,

I know it's hard but try not to worry or overthink this if you can as it sounds like standard procedure but if you want to talk things over with someone whilst you wait then our cancer nurses are available for a chat on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Wishing you and Campbell all the best for Saturday.

    Kind regards,

  • Thankyou. We will try not to think the worst and keep ourselves busy until then. Hopefully we will be breathing a sigh of relief. I will update once we know. This page is such a help.

  • Hello.

Update on Campbell. Outcome very positive. We will require oral medication, injections and lastly a course of radiotherapy. Consultant did not mention the C word 2 us but we assume the shadow on the mri scan must be some sort of cancerous cells, otherwise radiotherapy would not be required. Is this the case. With exception to this outcome, we had feared the worst and feel we have been lucky not to need surgery or chemotherapy.

Thankyou to everyone. This is a wonderful page.
