Red patch on my bladder

Had a cystoscopy on Monday and they saw a red patch on my bladder. I have researched it could be an infection , which I show no signs of at the moment or cancer. I have to wait 2/4 weeks before called back to clinic. Has anyone had this happen to them please?

  • Hi Sue, welcome to the forum. I know that waiting for results of tests, etc. is hard on the nerves when you have no idea what might lie ahead. I do have bladder cancer and I can tell you when I had my first cystescopy, I, me and the doctor, knew right away it was cancer. He showed it to me on the screen and there was no mistaking it. I don't know if that is any consolation to you, but it might give you a different perspective on it. Its' good though that your doctor is having it screened at the path lab so the results you get will be accurate. I hope for your sake that it isn't cancer, but if it is, at least you can get started right away on treatments, etc.

Come back on here to let us know the outcome and in the meantime, try not to think the worst, because it may not be the worst. Any time you want to rant or just touch base on here to get some support, feel free. People on this forum are very caring and supportive.

    Take care.

  • Hi Julie, if I was you I would try and get in touch with the consultants secretary or even your own GP. You need to know what they are . Xxxx

  • Hi Julie, welcome to the forum where people are very caring and supportive. I find it strange that your doc didn't tell you why he wanted you to have a general anaesthetic and also what exactly he plans to remove. I have bladder cancer and I knew right from the very first cystoscopy that it was cancer. I did have the surgery, (and several more since) and I have been kept informed right along. It may be that you have scar tissue from having bladder infections and not cancer at all, but he should have been clearer on why he's doing this surgery. I would call his office to get more info on it. When you do, come back on here and let us know what's going on for you.

Take care and good luck with it.
