Red flagged

Hello I was just looking some advice or to see if anyone else has been in a similar situation.

Had a baby in May, first period was normal and then after that started passing huge amount of clots and lost a lot of blood! Spotting every other day, pain in pelvis and back. Became anaemic.

My doctor examined me over 4 weeks ago and said how it looks like I've got a huge infected erioson and she was red flagging me for a colposcopy. After trying to chase up my appointment with colposcopy they said the consultant downgraded me, my doctor says this could be because of my age (27) and the fact that I had a baby however she was very annoyed because she wrote I had a very suspicious cervix: lesion of cervix, which is inflamed and bleeding. When she heard the downgraded me she has referred me for an urgent ultrasound which I'm waiting word on.

All of this is severely impacting me mentally, I can't exercise without spotting and I'm spotting every time I pass bowel movement etc and it's like I'm fighting with to get seen to.

Apparently gyne is going to see me at the end of January. Anyway.... has anyone been through anything similar, what's your outcome been? Also will the ultrasound detect cervical cancer?

Thank you

  • Welcome to the forum Leolion3993 although I'm sorry to read what you're going through. It sounds like things have been very challenging for you since you gave birth but hopefully it won't be long until you hear about your ultrasound and you're a step closer to getting some answers.

Despite being downgraded, it's good to hear you have an appointment with the gynaecologist as well. If you let them know you're willling to take any cancellations that pop up, you could get your appointment brought forward.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similarly frustrating situation will be along soon to offer you their support and advice but if you'd like to talk any of this through with one of our nurses, you're very welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very friendly and will do all they can to answer your questions.

We're thinking of you Leolion and will have our fingers crossed everything turns out o.k.

    Kind regards,
