Recurrent UTIs and endometriosis/ cancer?

Hi,

I am new to the forum and not sure how it works, I'm 23 and for the past 2/3 years I've been having chronic uti infections/bladder pain, heavy periods and pain during intercourse, although majority of the time my urine samples would come back no infection, I had key-hole surgery and biopsies done to check my uterine and bladder, bladder red patches visible and have yet to find results for uterus and the biopsies although I'm aware they were potentially  looking for endometriosis, I was just wondering if anyone had gone through anything similar or what I might be? Since the surgery 6 weeks ago I've had increased pink bleeding and 2 flare ups in my bladder.

  • Welcome to the forum MS77 although I'm sorry that you haven't got your results back yet.

The wait is always tough but fingers crossed they'll be back soon. If you're worried maybe you could get in touch with your GP as they may be able to see where they are/chase them up for you.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will be along soon but do be sure to let your doctor know about the pink bleeding and bladder flare ups you've had since you the surgery if this is causing you concern as well.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi!

I am 22 an I have been having similar symptoms. I get recurent Utis and kidney infections along with severely painful periods , bloating and pain during sex with blessing after sex and periods lasting 4-6 weeks. However the worst part is constant Utis. I was refered to gyno in January who have said it sounds like endometriosis but all they could offer was the merina coil due to me being to young to have a laraposcopy. This doesn't sound like it will help at all with the Utis and she refered me to a urologist for a consultation who I am seeing Monday. I do hope you have had some answers since December? Do you have any clu yet what it might be because it sounds very similar to me and I know how frustrating it all is. Good luck to you and I hope your okay:)

  • Hi IF97!

im so sorry to hear you are going through a similar situation. I had a laporoscopy again in October and had the biopsy results appointment  in December and it showed endometriosis. I spoke with the gynaecologist who was great at giving advice and referring me to a endo clinic to seek treatment for painful sex and pain such as acupuncture and physio. I have the mirena coil in and it greatly helped and stopped my periods and cramps completely, however I still suffer with the  constant UTIs. I have been re-referred to urology to be checked again but my GP has suggested possibly a longer term antibiotic. When I was previously referred to urology they mentioned interstitial Cystitis but wanted gynae to rule out if it was anything else first before being seen again. All I can advise is you know your own body and keep pushing to find answers,  I do hope some of this information helps as I understand this process is very overwhelming and frustrating but hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel for both of us! Good look and do keep in touch with any updates x
