Recurrence osophagul cancer with brain metastases

Well we finally got the diagnosis of recurrence osephagul cancer with brain metastases. Had our first meeting with the oncologist  yesterday and prognosis is 6 months without treatment. 12 to 14 months with treatment.  I  am  absolutely gutted. I am talking about my huband. They are going to give him 5 days of intense radiotherapy and 6 cycles of chemotherapy over 18 weeks. I really don't know what to expect from the treatment he is going to have and would appreciate any guidance of things I need to look out for. Thankyou

  • Hello Lola65

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's recent diagnosis. It's obviously a very difficult time for you all at the moment.

I hope that you feel supported by the team responsible for his care. Were you given the details of someone that you could contact if you had concerns during his treatment such as a specialist nurse? If not then it's certainly worth asking at his next appointment.

I'm afraid that I'm not really able to help with your specific question about what to expect from treatment. If you wanted to speak to one of our team of nurses then I'm sure that they would be able to help with some information and advice. You can call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

    Sending best wishes,
