Really confused after one duct removed

I wonder if I could ask if it's normal for bleeding from the nipple to start again three weeks after the duct has been removed?

I've had bleeding randomly on and off for about six months and after a mammogram, and ultrasound We are both said to be normal cytology showed papilloma cells

My surgeon is obviously very good at his Surgery as everything has cleared up nicely without infection or any problems, but he's not very good at talking to patients and I had some questions which were dismissed rather rudely.

After the mammogram and examination I got a really very painful and big swelling which actually distorted the shape of my breast and I could feel a hard long lump At 6 o'clock position if My breast  was thought of as a clock face. But I saw on the letter to my GP that the problem had been identified by the surgeon at 3 o'clock duct position. On the day of the operation I did ask about this and asked if he could consider what was happening at 6 o'clock but he just said that the mammogram would've shown if there was a problem there and walked away.

The operation went well everything is Healed beautifully. Except that a couple of days ago (two weeks after the operation) I began to have a pain that was shooting through my nipple like I had before (and not the soreness that I've been having on and off since the operation whenever it was touched) & yesterday I had some random bleeding again and also today. The bleeding is from the nipple it's not from the scar.

I have an appointment on Friday To get histology from the margins that were also removed and I want to try to talk to the surgeon again about the discrepancy between him saying the original mammogram was normal but later that it showed where the only papilloma was And what I've been feeling and experiencing.

I wanted to ask Here  if it's normal for papillomata return so quickly. Or if it's just normal post surgery to remove a duct that you bleed in that way later (there has been no bleeding at all until now)  And if I should simply let it go and ignore the  bleeding and Occasional pain or if I should be trying to push that it is checked again

i Cancer is a very low risK From a single bleeding duct but I'm a bit confused as perhaps there are two

  • Hello Elaneh,

I'm sorry to hear about your situation.

You mentioned you had an appointment today and I hope you get a chance to speak with the surgeon again in order to get some answers. If you don't manage to see him, however, and if you feel that asking some questions to one of our nurses, feel free to ring them on this freephone 0808 800 4040 Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope all goes well for you today and if you find a moment after that, please come back and give us an update.

    Best wishes,

  • Unfortunately today was basically a disaster of defensive behaviour by the consultant who had not taken any margins to test so the only thing that's happened is the cancer is confirmed but The consultant called it a papilloma on the day and considered it benign so  no margins  were tested and I no longet  trust the surgeon or the hospital
